Performing Host Environment Analysis

This operation enables you to collect host environment information and then analyze the host.

Precaution

  • When you collect information on a Windows host, the free space of the disk where the information collection tool is installed must be larger than 500 MB; otherwise, the information cannot be collected.
  • When you collect information on a Linux, AIX, Solaris, or ESXi host, the free space of the tmp directory on the host must be larger than 30 MB; otherwise, the information cannot be collected.
  • The Hostinfo Analyze Tool can collect information about 64 hosts at most simultaneously. If the number of hosts exceeds 64, information cannot be collected.

Procedure

  1. In the navigation tree on the left, choose Check Environment > Information Collection and Analysis.
  2. In the function pane, select a host for which you want to perform information collection and analysis.
  3. Click Perform Information Collection and Environment Analysis.
    The Perform Information Collection and Environment Analysis dialog box is displayed.
  4. Collect and analyze host information.
    1. In the Configure Information Collection Type area, select Host environment analysis.
    2. In User Name and Password of the User Name and Password Settings area, enter a user name and password respectively.

      NOTE:
      Collect host information as user root for host information collected as any non-root user is incomplete. ESXi system only supports root user to collect information.

    3. Click OK.
      The Information dialog box is displayed.
    4. Read and confirm the Information, and click OK.
  5. View the host environment analysis result.
    1. In the function pane, view the information collection progress.

      When the progress is Done, the host information has been collected.

    2. In Information Collection Result, click View.
      The result collection directory is displayed.
    3. In Interoperability Check Result, click the check result, such as Pass, Info, Warning or Error. Then view the host information and analysis result.

      If the web page is blocked after you click the check result, click Allow blocked content.

      NOTE:
      Hostinfo Analyze Tool allows you to view the compatibility check result only in the Internet Explorer.
